FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

EISENHOWER SECURITY:  Visitors to the school will need to be buzzed into the office after entering the front door and standing in the vestibule area.  We have installed an intercom system at the front door for visitors to identify themselves upon entering the school. Please remember that once the school day starts, all visitors to the building need to come through the front doors to sign in and receive their visitors badge if they continue into the building.  It is our hope that the school will be more secure during the day. Thanks for your support in this development.

SUMMER BIRTHDAYS:  If your child celebrates his/her birthday during the summer, arrangements have been made for a specific day to celebrate the months of June, July and August birthdays.  June birthdays will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018. July birthdays on Monday, May 7th, 2018.  Birthdays in early August (up to the date of August 1th ) and the rest of the May Birthdays will be on Monday, May 14th, 2018.  The student will receive a card, sticker, pencil, and a cupcake from the kitchen.

SUMMER PLANS:  Even though summer is a month away, if a family is planning on moving from Norton during the summer, please contact the office.  Schedules, class lists and other school related issues are being worked on now in preparation for the 2018/2019 school year.

TRANSITION TO JUNIOR HIGH:  The sixth grade students at Eisenhower are going to be involved in activities over the month that will help them become more familiar with the Junior High.  Parents will be involved in some of these activities. One of the first activities will be the parent meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 24th, 2018 starting at 6:30  PM in the music room at the Junior High.

SUMMER SCHOOL:  Letters will be going out in one week for students who are being referred for summer school.  Summer school will be two different session for two weeks, for a total of four weeks. The first day will start Monday, May 21st , and end on Friday, June 1st, 2018.  The second session will begin July 3oth  and end on August 10th, 2018.  School begins on Friday, August 17th, 2018.

MTSS:  The purpose of an MTSS program is to ensure healthy behavioral development and academic success of all students by expanding awareness of, access to, and use of a multi-tier system of supports for all students.

SPRING TIME:  We are asking parents to help remind their child that when walking to and from school to be cautious about any animals they might encounter on the route.  Springtime brings out little critters that may have been hibernating over the winter and are now out on the move.

PLAYGROUND:  The playground is often used after school and on weekends by the public.  Often times at recess, students find droppings from dogs that come to the playground.  We ask that if you bring your dog to the playground, or to the school, to please clean up after them.

CROSSWALKS:  Please encourage your children to use the crosswalks at all times.  At dismissal time, there are some students, along with their parents, not using the crosswalks, by walking between the cars that are parked in the school parking lot.  This is not a safe practice. The teachers and I talk to students about this safety issue, but it helps to have parents support this as well.
