FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
JANUARY INSERVICE: On Monday, January 18th, 2016, the district will have in-service for all staff members. There will be NO SCHOOLfor students on this day. This is an early reminder so childcare arrangements can be made. School will resume on Tuesday, January 19th, at the regular time.
AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE (ADA): School attendance is a very important part of the student’s school record. There is a high correlation between attendance and personal reliability. Regular and punctual attendance by all students is necessary for the proper functioning of the entire school. One of the major causes of failure in school is absenteeism. The average daily attendance for the first semester is as follows:
FIRST SEMESTER
EC 97.63%
K 98.13%
1 96.15%
2 97.75%
3 96.32%
4 98.01%
5 95.60%
6 96.91%
Total 97.06%
Overall average daily attendance for the first semester was 97.06%. The overall attendance for the 2ndnine weeks was 97.42%, even with all the illness that has taken place. Congratulations parents and students! That is a good average daily attendance percentage!
GEOGRAPHY BEE RESULTS: The annual Eisenhower Geography Bee was held Friday, January 9th, 2015. Seven students in grades four, five and six completed the classroom level Geography Bee, and advanced to the school level. The Eisenhower Geography Bee winner was Nataley Schumaker. First runner up was Collin Cox and second runner up was Mason Hogan. Nataley will now take a written test for eligibility in the State competition. Other students who participated in the contest were Catharine Hall, Lauryn Schumaker, LeAnne Beikman, and Kayla Donahey. Students who had qualified but were not able to participate on Friday were Madison DuBois, Ellie Kats and Clayton Sumner. Congratulations to all who participated!

HEALTH INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS: All students are required to have Birth Certificates, current Immunizations and Physicals. The Kansas Certificate of Immunizations requires the following: DTaP – Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, (five doses); Polio-(4 doses); Hepatitis B (3 doses); Varicella (one dose for Preschool, and two doses for Kindergarten thru 6thgrade} OR chicken pox disease date. A Tdap booster is required prior to entering 7thgrade. Physicals are required for all Kindergarten students and out of State transfer students under the age of nine.
EMERGENCY DRILLS: Each year the school is responsible to have a fire drill monthly, and a tornado drill four times a year. In the next couple of weeks, Eisenhower Elementary is going to practice a school lock down procedure with our students. It is our goal to keep our students as safe as we can during the school hours and we believe that if we practice this procedure, it will help the students know they are safe when they come to school on a daily basis. If parents have any questions, they can contact the office at 877-5113 for more information.
BIG BROTHERS/SISTERS PROGRAM: Please contact the office if you are interested in signing up your child(ren) for the program. Forms are in the office. There are a large number of high school students interested in working with our students.

Spending time with kids brings a sense of balance to our lives. It reminds us that the best things in life aren’t things.”
