FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
THANK YOU: I want to send out a thank you to the staff and district personnel who has helped at the Eisenhower in my absence the past couple of weeks. I decided to have a knee replacement on Monday of Spring Break, I was hoping to minimize the number of days I would be absent from school by doing this over the Spring Break. However, I had some complications from the surgery and have had to miss more school than I anticipated. The staff has done a great job, and there has been support from personnel in the district to help cover activities in my absence. I am very grateful for all of this, and the people who have stepped up to help out the students at Eisenhower.
SPRING TIME: We are asking parents to help remind their child that when walking to and from school to be cautious about any animals they might encounter on the route. Springtime brings out little critters that may have been hibernating over the winter and are now out on the move.
PLAYGROUND: The playground is often used after school and on weekends by the public. Often times at recess, students find droppings from dogs that come to the playground. We ask that if you bring your dog to the playground, or to the school, to please clean up after them.
TRANSITION TO JUNIOR HIGH: The sixth grade students at Eisenhower are going to be involved in activities over the month that will help them become more familiar with the Junior High. Parents will be involved in some of these activities. One of the first activities will be the parent meeting scheduled for Monday, April 22nd, 2019 starting at 6:30 PM in the music room at the Junior High.
DRESS CODE: On page 15 of the parent/student handbook there is information about appropriate dress for students. This is the time of year that some students may inadvertently wear shorts or other clothing that may be too short or inappropriate for school. If a student wears clothing that may be deemed inappropriate by a teacher, staff member or the administration, you will receive a phone call for a change of clothing. The school is asking that you monitor what your child is wearing to school.
CROSSWALKS: Please encourage your children to use the crosswalks at all times. At dismissal time, there are some students, along with their parents, not using the crosswalks, by walking between the cars that are parked in the school parking lot. This is not a safe practice. The teachers and I talk to students about this safety issue, but it helps to have parents support this as well.
PUBERTY CLASSES: Just a reminder the 4th, 5th and 6th graders will have their puberty lessons on the 16th and 17th of April. Classes will take place during PE/Music time. Boys and girls will be separated during these lessons conducted by Nurse Angie and Mrs. Bolt. If there are any questions, please contact either Nurse Angie or Mrs. Bolt.
6th GRADE BAND RECITAL: The 6th grade band recital has been rescheduled for Tuesday April 9th at 1:40 PM in the EES Band Room.
EARLY DISMISSAL: Reminder that there will be an early dismissal on Wednesday April 10th at 1:00 PM.
SUMMER BIRTHDAYS: If your child celebrates his/her birthday during the summer, arrangements have been made for a specific day to celebrate the months of June, July, August, and end of May birthdays. June birthdays will be held on Tuesday, April 30th, 2019. July birthdays on Monday, May 6th, 2019. Birthdays in early August (up to the date of August 15th ) and the rest of the May birthdays will be on Monday, May 13th, 2018. The student will receive a card, sticker, pencil, and a cupcake from the kitchen.
