FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Our goal at Eisenhower is to develop each student enrolled as nearly as possible academically, socially, physically and morally to their fullest potential and to promote the historical and patriotic heritage they enjoy as an American.
SCHOOL DAY: The school day starts at 8:15 AM. Breakfast will be served from 7:45 to 8:10 AM.
EARLY DISMISSAL: On Friday, August 17, 2018, the first day of school, school will be dismissed at 1:00 P.M. Buses will run their regular routes at this time. The school will follow regular school hours on Monday, August 20th 2018. There will be no breakfast served on the 17th.
STUDENTS: School attendance is a very important part of the student’s record. Regular and punctual attendance by all students is necessary for the proper functioning of the entire school. One of the major causes of failure in school is absenteeism. When you arrive at school (please not before 7:45 A.M.), report to the cafeteria if you are in grades EC-2, and to the gym if you are in grades 3-6. Students will be dismissed to their classroom at 8:10 A.M.
PARENTS: We hope the Parent/Student Handbook, which you received at enrollment, will address most of your concerns. However, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. The phone number is 877-5113.
ROOM PARENTS: The teachers cordially invite you to become room parents. If you are interested, please contact your child’s teacher.
ASSIGNMENT BOOK: Each student, K-6, will be given an Assignment Book the FIRST DAY OF CLASS. This book is used for written messages from the teacher as well as homework assignments. Keeping the lines of communication open between home and school is of vital importance for school success. Positive results will be the outcome for all!!
BREAKFAST & LUNCH: If you are applying for the Federal Lunch Program, please return your application as soon as possible. The breakfast program will begin on Monday, August 20th, 2018, but lunch will be served on Friday, August 17th, 2018. Be sure your child knows whether he/she has your permission to eat breakfast. All monies (breakfast and lunch) are paid into a single Accu-Scan student account. All meals are then deducted from this one account.
LUNCH AND BREAKFAST PAYMENT REMINDERS WILL NOT BE SENT HOME THIS YEAR. THE OFFICE WILL CONTACT PARENTS/GUARDIANS VIA E-MAIL OF THEIR STATUS FOR MEALS.
BEGINNING SCHOOL: Please dress your child in cool, comfortable, modest clothing, remembering that shoes should be appropriate for both recess and P.E. We will strive to keep the children as comfortable as possible. As the year begins, we encourage cooperation between parents, students, staff and community to enable our children to learn and develop to their full potential. Please feel free to offer suggestions as to how we can improve Eisenhower Elementary. Your suggestions are most important to us.
EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREEN: The Early Childhood Screen is scheduled for Friday, August 24th, 2018. If you would like for your child to be screened, please call the school office before Thursday, August 23rd, to set up an appointment. The school number is 877-5113.
NEWSLETTERS: Newsletters can be viewed via online. Go to the school website: usd211.org, click on Elementary tab and EES Newsletter. This is the location where Nutrition Nuggets and EES Breakfast/Lunch Menus can also be viewed.
FROM THE TRANSPORTATION OFFICE
USD #211 offers a shuttle service for walking students. The morning shuttle is a
PICK-UP at the Unified Office departing for Eisenhower at 7:55 A.M. The afternoon shuttles are
DROP-OFFS from Eisenhower to these two locations:
1. The Unified Office
2. The Downtown Drop located at the 100 bock of North 1st.
For safety reasons, these DROP-OFFS are designated for walking students. If you need to pick up your child by car, we request that you do so at the Eisenhower School. Our priority is for the safety of all students and your help in our efforts is appreciated.
Please remember riding a bus is a privilege, not a right, and students will lose that privilege of riding the bus if they do not follow the bus rules and the bus driver’s directions.
Any questions should be directed to the Transportation Director, Jim Jackson, at 877-6508, the transportation office.
