FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
REGIONAL WRESTLING: USD 211 will be dismissing school at noon on Friday, February 21st, 2020 for regional wrestling. We will start serving lunch at 11:00. Buses will run at noon. Norton is hosting a regional wrestling tournament at Stull gym starting Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.
LUNCH CHANGE: On Friday, February 28th there is a change on the menu. The cafeteria will be serving Fish squares instead of the BBQ sandwiches.
PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCES: There will be no school on Wednesday, February 26th, 2020, at Eisenhower Elementary. Parent / Teacher conferences will be held this day for students in grades EC-6. Please be sure to make child care arrangements this day. ALL parents are invited to visit with the classroom teacher but CONFERENCES WITH ALL PARENTS WILL NOT BE SCHEDULED. If the teacher wishes a conference, he/she will be contacting you. This contact may be by phone or letter. A time which is compatible with your schedule and which will allow more time for visitation will be arranged. If you wish a conference with the teacher, please do not hesitate to contact the teacher for an appointment.
STATE TESTING SCHEDULE:
As soon as the teachers finalize their testing schedule, we will post it in the newsletter for parents.
It is important for parents to send their child to school during this time to take the tests. Encourage your child to take the test serious, and do the best they can. This is an important part of the school year and we want the students to feel refreshed, relaxed, and confident of their ability to be successful on these very important State assessments. Thank you for your support.
BOXTOPS: BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION is a great way to earn extra cash for our school. If you have been saving your box tops, please send them to the library soon, so we can count them in this submission. Thank you to everyone who collects the box tops, we appreciate your effort! We are looking at purchasing a new water fountain strictly for water bottles from the cash earned from the box tops. We are planning on sending them the first of March to the company to cash in.
DROP OFF: A reminder for parents/ guardians dropping off their child(ren) in the morning to NOT use the Eisenhower Drive. The same procedure goes for picking up students in the afternoon. Please use extreme caution around the school. Thank you for your understanding in this situation.
WALKING TO AND FROM SCHOOL: We are asking parents to remind their child(ren) the importance of safety when walking to and from school. Please talk to your child(ren) about not talking to strangers in cars and never to approach a vehicle for any reason. We cover this subject some in school, but for the safety of the students, we need to have parents reinforce this with their own children. Thank you very much for this and if you have any questions, please contact the office.
HEALTH: We still have a number of students coming down with flu and cold symptoms this week. Please remind your child(ren) to get proper rest, drink plenty of water, wash hands or sanitize frequently, and cover all coughs. Hopefully all of this will help keep students in school. If there are questions concerning health issues, please contact Nurse Angie at the school.
TEXT MESSAGES: This is a spam-free application and your name and personal information are protected and will remain private. Please check with the office on how to sign up for the program.
BEST CHOICE: The school is now collecting Best Choice labels that are found on cans and other food products in our local grocery stores. The Best Choice labels are found by the bar codes on these products. We are going to use the labels to purchase additional alternative seating for our classrooms. Save them for us and we will send them off at the end of the year. Best Choice labels are found on a lot of the products, so please help us out in this activity to secure funds for our alternative seating in our school. Best Choice labels do not replace BoxTops as we will continue to do BoxTops as well for our school. Thank you for your help and support in this matter.
EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREEN: Eisenhower Elementary will be conducting a free Early Childhood screen on Friday, March 6th, 2020. For more information please contact Kari Kendall at 877-5113.
KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP: Eisenhower Elementary will be holding their annual Kindergarten Roundup on Monday, March 2nd, 2020. This gives us an early idea on what our kindergarten count will be for the following school year. We will begin at 5:00 in the cafeteria. This meeting is for parents only, as we want to share important information with the parents concerning paperwork and important school dates for the 2020/2021 school years.
