2-17-17 Newsletter

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

STATE ASSESSMENTS:  Just a reminder that State Assessments will be starting in the next couple weeks. It is important for parents to send their child to school during this time to take the tests. Encourage your child to take the test serious, and do the best they can.  This is an important part of the school year and we want the students to feel refreshed, relaxed, and confident of their ability to be successful on these very important State assessments.  Thank you for your support.

SUMMER SCHOOL:   We will have Sumer School this year.  Letters will be going out to parents the end of April of students who would benefit from being in Summer School.

EES KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP:  Kindergarten Roundup is scheduled for Monday, March 6th, 2017.  This meeting is for parents only.  At 5:00 P.M. there will be a meeting in the cafeteria with Mr. Roy, the school nurse, and kindergarten teachers going over what the expectations will be for the 2017/2018 school year.  There will be time to sign up for the kindergarten screen scheduled for April 21st, 2017.

SPRING BREAK:   Spring Break for USD 211 is scheduled for March 13th through March 17th. School will resume on Monday, March 20th.

EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREEN:  Eisenhower Elementary, in conjunction with Kid Link, will be conducting a free Early Childhood Screen on Friday, March 24th, 2017.  If you have a concern in any of the following developmental areas: vision, hearing, speech, motor, behavior and / or reasoning, please call to schedule your child for this screening.  Those eligible are children age birth through 5. Early Childhood screenings will take place throughout the day, while Kid Link screenings will take place during the afternoon only.  The appointments are approximately 45 minutes in length.  To schedule an appointment, please call Eisenhower Elementary at 877-5113 by March 22nd, 2017 and ask for Joan Hale.

SUMMER PLANS:  Even though summer is a couple of months away, if a family is planning on moving from Norton during the summer, please contact the office.  Schedules, class lists and other school related issues are being worked on now in preparation for the 2017/2018 school year.

WALKING TO AND FROM SCHOOL:  We are asking parents to remind their child(ren) the importance of safety when walking to and from school.  Please talk to your child(ren) about not talking to strangers in cars and never to approach a vehicle for any reason.  We cover this subject some in school, but for the safety of the students, we need to have parents reinforce this with their own children.  Thank you very much for this and if you have any questions, please contact the office.

LIBRARY:  The Eisenhower Library is needing empty cheese boxes (Velveeta or other brands) in the two-pound size.  Please send the boxes at your convenience.  Thank you for your help.
