FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
HOMECOMING: School will be dismissed at 2:00 PM. for Homecoming on Friday, October 12, 2018.. The Parade will start at 2:30. Buses will run accordingly from the Eisenhower Elementary.
SIGN IN SHEET: We are asking people who come to the school to not only pick up a visitor’s badge, but to also sign in at the front desk. This helps us keep track of who is in the building at any given time. We would like to thank you for your help in this matter. IF you have any questions, please contact the office.
GOEDUSTAR: If parents would like to monitor their child’s progress, they can contact the elementary office and receive a password that will enable them to access their child’s work at school.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: Just a reminder that basketball for the fifth and sixth grade girls will begin on Monday, September 17th. Cheri Brooks will be conducting the practices and will be getting information to the girls in the near future.
MTSS: When USD 211 dismisses school early because of MTSS, the staff meets, examines new data, and moves students to different groups for the appropriate support. This is an on-going process that we will be involved in all year long. We want to thank the parents for working with the school on our early dismissals, as this time is valuable to our staff to be able to work together in the best interest of the students in our school.
SCHOOL PICTURES: School pictures are scheduled for Wednesday, September 19th 2018, for the students in ECD through 5th grade. 6th grade students will take their pictures on Thursday, September 20th. If parents have younger siblings, you can bring them before school starts and we will take their pictures before the rest of the students begin.
TITLE 1 PARENT MEETING: This meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 24th, 2018. This is a chance for kids to exchange some of their books from home for other books. It is a great idea and we hope to see lots of students and parents in attendance.
EMERGENCY DRILLS: Eisenhower Elementary practices on a regular basis, fire drills and when appropriate tornado drills. We are also required to do lock down drills with our staff and students. In preparation for the lock down drills the office will tell the students what to do, and classroom teachers will discuss why we need to do these drills. If parents have questions on any of these types of drills, please contact the office and we will do what we can to answer your questions. It would be helpful if parents took a little bit of time to explain to their child(ren) why the school takes these precautions during the year. Thanks for your time in this matter.
SMART WATCHES: We now have students arriving to school wearing smart watches. These watches will be handled similar to cell phones. They need to be in their book bag during the day. If they become a distraction, they are brought to the office and can be picked up at the end of the day. If they continue to be a problem, the watch will be sent to the office and can only be picked up by parents at the end of the day. Contact the office if there are any questions.
TITLE MATH/READING: Here are two simple ideas to help children with their reading and math skills, as suggested by the Title 1 Math/Reading instructors at school.
Reading—–Look for appropriate word and reading games online to play with your child.
Math—Have your child measure ingredients for a recipe you are making.
If a parent has questions on how to help their child do better with their Math and Reading skills, they can contact Mrs. JaLynn Urban or Mrs. Jennie Patterson at school for suggestions and ideas.
