10-23-15 Newsletter

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
FLU AND COLD SEASON: Please remind your children to drink plenty of liquids and get plenty of sleep in the next few months. We want our children in school for effective learning. Proper nutrition and plenty of rest will help the students stay in school, where we want them, on a daily basis.
COATS AND HATS: Fall weather is here, with winter weather just around the corner. When the temperature gets colder, please send your child to school with hats and gloves, along with their winter coats. Students will need winter boots when the snow starts to land on the ground and stick.
HALLOWEEN PARTIES: Halloween parties will begin at 2:30 on Friday, October 30th . Kindergarten students are the only students who dress up for Halloween. This year the Kindergarten students will only dress up after lunch. They will parade at the Andbe Home, Whispering Pines and then around the school prior to their homeroom parties. Parents of Kindergarten students please send your child’s costume in their backpack and the students will dress after lunch.
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES: Thanks to all the parents and guardians who came to Parent / Teacher conferences on Monday. It is a great time for teachers and parents to reflect on the first nine weeks of school and plan for the remainder of the school year. Please remember that if parents have questions, they can contact their teacher via e-mail for clarification. To email your teacher use the first letter of their first name, then their last name, add @usd 211.org. For instance if you wanted to contact the principal, the email address would be croy@usd211.org You can always call the school office for help, as well.
VETERAN’S DAY: We will be dismissing at 1:00 PM. on Wednesday, November 11th, 2015 so that students may attend the Veteran’s Day Parade. Buses will run at that time.
AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE: The average daily attendance at EES for the first nine weeks of school was 96.2 %. For effective learning, it is important to have students in class working directly with their teacher. Thank You to the parents for your work in getting your child to school.
LOCK-DOWN: In the next week, we will practice a lock-down drill at EES. If you have any questions about our procedures with a lock-down drill, please contact the office. We also practice fire drills monthly, and tornado drills four times a year to help keep our students as safe as possible during the school year.

INTRAMURAL WRESTLING: Intramural wrestling for 5th and 6th grade students begins this week. Information was passed out on Tuesday, October 20th 2015 to the students. If you have any questions, contact Bill Johnson at bjohnson@usd211.com or call 871-0429.
